HIV Dementia Champion Training Program
Join us for an engaging series of free on-demand modules designed to strengthen your skills in dementia care for people aging with HIV!
As people living with HIV continue to live longer, the intersection of aging, cognitive decline, and complex medical and psychosocial needs is becoming increasingly important. Dementia in this population presents unique challenges, from early identification and accurate assessment to communication, care planning, and connecting patients with essential community resources. Despite this growing need, many healthcare professionals feel underprepared to recognize and manage cognitive impairment in people aging with HIV.
This comprehensive, case-informed training series equips interdisciplinary healthcare providers with practical strategies to deliver high-quality, person-centered dementia care. Across five modules, participants will build foundational knowledge of cognitive disorders and HIV-associated neurocognitive conditions, learn how to identify and assess dementia in clinical settings, and develop effective communication techniques to support patients and caregivers. The series also explores advanced care planning, transitions of care, and the critical role of community-based services in supporting safety, autonomy, and quality of life.
By the end of this series, learners will be better prepared to recognize cognitive decline, initiate appropriate interventions, and provide compassionate, coordinated care that reflects what matters most to patients and their families.
