The goal of this educational activity is to enhance APPs’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in assessing and managing common pediatric surgical conditions, perioperative and postoperative care, and applying institutional standards and evidence-based practices to support consistent, high-quality patient care.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for pediatric surgery advanced practice providers at UChicago Medicine.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe institution-specific protocols and workflows for common pediatric surgical conditions and perioperative care.
- Apply evidence-based standards to the perioperative management of pediatric surgical patients.
- Differentiate expected postoperative findings from those indicating common pediatric surgical complications.
- Interpret clinical, laboratory, and imaging findings relevant to pediatric surgical care.
- Evaluate age-appropriate strategies for pain management, nutrition, education, and continuity of care.
- Demonstrate evidence-based techniques for common pediatric surgical procedures.
