ExPAND Care Learning Collaborative

This activity will increase access to gender-affirming care by preparing primary care practices to confidently and effectively integrate these services into routine care.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for primary care clinicians who want to offer gender-affirming care to their patients, including those in direct primary care practices, community health centers, and independent or small group medical practices.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply evidence-based guidelines to gender-affirming hormone therapy for transgender and nonbinary adults.
  • Select evidence-based gender-affirming medical care for transgender and gender-diverse children and adolescents.
  • Integrate mental health considerations into gender-affirming care across the lifespan.
  • Implement patient-centered processes for medications and specialty referrals within primary care practice.
  • Manage common clinical challenges arising in gender-affirming care across the lifespan.
  • Analyze legal and policy considerations affecting the provision of gender-affirming care.
  • Develop a practice-specific approach for integrating gender-affirming services into routine primary care.
