Well-Being Month 2024: Sleep and Physician Well-Being

The goal of these activities is to bring awareness to the topic of burnout in healthcare professionals and present strategies to promote resilience that will improve practitioner health and ultimately patient outcomes.
Sleep is universally recognized as a crucial health behavior, yet numerous environmental and emotional barriers often impede it. This challenge is particularly pronounced among healthcare professionals. In this session, participants will discover surprising insights about sleep and gain practical, actionable tips tailored to maximize sleep benefits specifically for clinicians.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals at the University of Chicago and its affiliates dedicated to improving resilience in themselves and others.
Learning Objectives

- Identify evidence-based sleep and stress mitigation strategies;
- Justify motivations for prioritizing sleep;
- Summarize tips and tricks to help with disrupted sleep and sleep insufficiency;
- Explain the process of sleep and common pitfalls of maximizing sleep quantity and quality;
- Compare tactics to assist with calls and night shifts.
