Substance Use Disorders Update: Review of SUD Treatment within Special Populations
Glenview, IL US
November 18, 2026
This symposium will explore the complex and evolving landscape of substance use disorders, with a focus on prevention, early identification, treatment, and recovery across specialized and vulnerable populations. Leading experts in psychiatry and related disciplines will examine substance use disorders in the context of chronic pain, pregnancy, mental health conditions, and other co-occurring disorders, while addressing disparities and barriers that can limit access to effective care.
Sessions will highlight current evidence-based approaches to screening, assessment, referral, intervention, and treatment, including pharmacotherapy and other treatment modalities. The program will also address emerging areas of addiction, including gambling and other behavioral addictions, and examine evidence-based approaches to their management. Through expert presentations and discussion, participants will gain practical strategies to recognize substance use disorders, navigate treatment options, and improve care for individuals and populations affected by addiction.
