The FSR Sarcoidosis Journal Club helps to improve patient care by incorporating evidence into clinical practice, sharing advancements in sarcoidosis patient care, and increasing awareness of current research findings.

Global Practices in Cardiac Imaging for Cardiac Sarcoidosis: A Survey Study of International Experts with Delphi Consensus. Tahir Kafil, MD, will present this international survey study which explores current global practices in the diagnosis and management of cardiac sarcoidosis, with a focus on cardiac imaging. A multidisciplinary panel of experts – including a rheumatologist, pulmonologist, cardiologist, and pathologist – will share their perspectives on the study following the presentation. Current approaches and how Delphi consensus was reached on key areas of practice will be discussed, helping to identify areas of agreement, variation, and opportunities to improve the use of cardiac imaging in patients with suspected sarcoidosis and patients who already have a diagnosis. A Q&A session will take place following the panel discussion.
Target Audience
The intended audience includes clinicians including cardiologists, rheumatologists, pulmonologists, general practitioners, and all specialties working with sarcoidosis, as well as clinician researchers working on this topic.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the complementary roles of cardiac magnetic resonance (CME) and FDG-PET in the identification of cardiac sarcoidosis;
- Identify areas for future research and improved clinical management based on the variation in global cardiac imaging practices identified by the study;
- Evaluate the capabilities and constraints of current cardiac imaging modalities for detecting cardiac involvement in patients living with sarcoidosis.
