Target Audience

This activity is designed for general obstetrician-gynecologists practicing in community settings and affiliated hospitals throughout the Chicagoland area.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe current guideline-based indications and contraindications for medical, minimally invasive, and non-surgical management of benign gynecologic conditions.
  • Identify imaging features of fibroids and endometriosis that influence disease classification and management planning.
  • Apply preoperative planning principles to develop safe surgical strategies for patients with large fibroid uteri or complex pelvic pathology.
  • Differentiate candidates appropriate for minimally invasive management from those requiring referral to subspecialty care.
  • Integrate imaging findings, symptom burden, and reproductive goals into individualized management plans for patients with endometriosis or fibroids.
  • Develop intraoperative strategies to minimize complications and preserve ovarian and surrounding tissue function during hysterectomy, myomectomy, and endometrioma excision.
