Objectives:

1.  To learn about several dialysis-related quality improvement initiatives implemented in the United States.
2.  To understand the relation between selected policies implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, practice patterns, and outcomes in the US end-stage renal disease program.
3.  To broadly consider the role of economic incentives in nephrology and dialysis practice.
