Pediatric gastrointestinal and hepatic concerns are common in primary care, and knowing how to approach them confidently can make a meaningful difference in patient care. Target Audience
This activity is designed for primary care clinicians and other healthcare professionals treating gastrointestinal and hepatic conditions in pediatric patients.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify age-specific clinical features associated with pediatric dysphagia during the initial evaluation.
- Explain evidence-based approaches to pediatric obesity that incorporate gastrointestinal, psychological, lifestyle, and pharmacologic considerations.
- Select appropriate GI and hepatic screening tests based on a pediatric patient’s clinical presentation and family history.
- Apply current standards of care to the initial management of common pediatric gastrointestinal and hepatic conditions in the primary care setting.
- Construct a differential diagnosis for pediatric dysphagia based on age, signs, and symptoms.
