SAMS 23rd International Conference: Healing Syria Together: Advancing Healthcare & Educational Excellence

SAMS 23rd International Conference: Healing Syria Together: Advancing Healthcare & Educational Excellence

July 4, 2025 to July 6, 2025
The SAMS 23rd International Conference is dedicated to addressing the profound challenges currently facing Syria’s healthcare system, which has been drastically impacted by over a decade of conflict and consequential deficiencies in infrastructure, workforce, and resources. Through a series of expert-led sessions, practical workshops, and interdisciplinary tracks spanning public health, mental health, medical education, research, and specialty fields such as cardiology, neurology, nephrology, women’s health, and oncology, the conference delivers evidence-based knowledge and critical clinical skills to participants. This comprehensive educational approach is designed to bridge key gaps in competence and performance, empower healthcare professionals, and support the rebuilding of Syria’s healthcare and academic infrastructure, ultimately fostering the delivery of high-quality, context-appropriate care and strengthening workforce capacity in post-conflict settings.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for physicians, allied health professionals, students, humanitarian clinicians and other healthcare professionals interested in leadership within the field of medicine.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply evidence-based public health and mental health strategies to design low-resource interventions for displaced and trauma-affected populations in Syria;
  • Assess current gaps in medical education and training programs in Syria and formulate solutions to enhance clinical teaching, mentorship, and academic continuity in conflict-affected regions;
  • Critique existing models of care delivery in specialty fields and adapt these models for use in under-resourced, disrupted health systems;
  • Compare international research ethics and methodologies with practices in conflict zones to develop contextually appropriate research protocols for Syrian healthcare settings.
