“ZNF670 Is a Thyroid-dependent Factor that Regulates Liver Status”

                Presented by:  Thaer Idrees, M.D.

Endocrine Fellow, The University of Chicago

Learning Objectives:

1.  Discuss the role of hepatocyte type 2 deiodinase (D2) and lipid metabolism.

2.  Discuss the role of ZFP125 in liver steatosis, hypercholesteremia and obesity.

3.  Discuss the path to find "Biomarker" for ZFP125 expression and prediction of liver steatosis.

“Glycemic Response to Short-term Dietary Interventions in Healthy Adults with and without GCK-MODY”

Project #1 Learning Objectives:

1.  Compare glycemic profiles via use of continuous glucose monitoring sensors (CGMSA) in patients with GCK-MODY on their baseline diets and during two short-term structured dietary modifications.

2.  Compare glycemic profiles via use of CGMS in patients with GCK-MODY during short-term structured dietary modifications to glycemic profiles in healthy controls.

“Growth after Menarche in Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease”

Project #2 Learning Objectives:

1.  Investigate the potential for linear growth after menarche among female adolescents with IBD.

2.  Identify predictors of sub-normal growth post-menarche in IBD. Factors we will investigate include: type of disease (ulcerative colitis vs. Chrohn's disease), nutritional status (Z-score for weight), age at menarche, pre-illness height, height at diagnosis, final height and Z-score; mid-parental height and bone age to predict growth potential at diagnosis, onset of IBD prior to menarche; disease activity based on duration of use of corticosteroid medications and biologic agents, hospitalization and surgery.

Presented by:  Maria V. Salguero-Bermonth, M.D.
