2024 Warner-Reynolds Leadership Academy: The Power of Community in Leadership

The Warner-Reynolds Leadership Academy will support the professional network and leadership skill development of mid-career women faculty, which are critical aspects of women faculty seeking leadership positions. The goal of this activity is to allow participants to develop authentic leadership skills, strategically think about their career trajectory, and define for themselves their success. In doing so, it will increase the number of women faculty in leadership positions and roles across the organization.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for mid-career women faculty in the Biological Sciences Division.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recall strategies for embracing unfamiliar leadership roles;
- Relate the impact of storytelling in diverse leadership settings for enhancing performance;
- Recognize the gendered experiences of women in male-dominated fields;
- Outline the courageous steps for accomplishing milestones through a one-year plan;
- Articulate effective strategies for seeking input from colleagues to foster professional development;
- Discuss the benefits of a growth mindset and a master adaptive learner framework in facilitating professional growth when receiving feedback;
- Explain effective methods for acquiring insights from leaders about their roles;
- Generate three different life plans based on your current situation, if your current situation disappeared, and with limitless resources.
