By highlighting cutting-edge practices and celebrating visionary leadership, it will inspire participants to drive meaningful change in their institutions and communities. Ultimately, it will catalyze growth, connection, and collective advancement in surgery.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for surgeons, surgical residents, medical students, academic faculty, healthcare leaders, and professionals in surgical education and health equity.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize innovative surgical techniques and research findings relevant to practice;
  • Apply recent advancements in transplant surgery to clinical decision-making in relevant patient care scenarios;
  • Analyze current challenges and evidence-based strategies in trauma care to improve clinical decision-making;
  • Evaluate institutional and systemic factors contributing to resident attrition and formulate strategies to enhance retention and support;
  • Critique structural and cultural barriers to gender equity in surgical leadership and actionable strategies for institutional change;

THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES LEARNING CENTER
The Learning Center encompasses 124,000 gross square feet of space devoted to interactive teaching laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, specialized facilities for computer‐simulated biological experimentation, and a rooftop research greenhouse. The building is adjacent to the Jules Knapp Center and provides direct pedestrian access to the John Crerar Science Library and the Medical Center. The Learning Center underscores the University’s commitment to life sciences education. It provides pre‐doctoral trainees in the MSTP with space and facilities to foster its informal training and formal coursework. Seminars, lab meetings, simulation, and all courses and symposia are held in this facility. Additionally, the Pritzker School of Medicine and the Office of Graduate Student Affairs are located in this building.
