San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium Update 2017

This symposium will provide the audience with a concise update on important new clinical and translational breast research studies that were presented at the annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in December. It will also provide a forum for NorthShore and University of Chicago physicians to discuss current practice guidelines and potential future collaborations for clinical trials and research studies.
Target Audience
The target audience includes physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in breast disease specialties.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this conference, participants will be able to:
- Determine whether extended endocrine therapy with letrozole improved disease-free survival in women with HR+ breast cancer who have completed 5 years of endocrine therapy.
- Determine if adding endocrine therapy to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for HR+ HER2+ cancers improved pathologic response.
- Illustrate the breast cancer risk with mutations in various breast cancer predisposition genes beyond BRCA1/2.
- Compare seed vs wire localization for nonpalpable breast cancer with regards to margin status.
- Assess relationship between patient and tumor characteristics and risk of local recurrence after breast conservation for DCIS.
- Present complication rates and patient reported outcomes after postmastectomy radiation with reconstruction.
- Demonstrate the effect of a low fat diet on breast cancer survival.Demonstrate the benefits of duloxetine in the treatment of AI-associated joint pain.
