Resilience Week Lecture Series: UCMC Heroes You Should Know!

The goal of these activities is to bring awareness to the topic of burnout in healthcare professionals and present strategies to promote resilience that will improve practitioner health and ultimately patient outcomes.
 
Dr. Icy Cade-Bell & Dr. Mindy Schwartz have each dedicated their careers to meeting patients where they are. They will share their motivation for engaging in community-based care and describe the specific programs they developed as well as some of the wisdom they have gained along the way. Dr. Morgan Fallor (PGY4, Child Psychiatry) and Dr. Alanna Burnett (PGY4, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics) will moderate this conversation.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals at the University of Chicago and its affiliates dedicated to improving resilience in themselves and others.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the value of community engagement for patient care and physician well-being;
  • Identify physician leaders at UChicago Medicine engaged in community-based care;
  • Recognize the structural and systemic barriers some communities and individuals face when seeking care;
  • Recognize risks for physician burnout;
  • Identify institutional resources and networks available for resident and fellow physicians.
