Annual QI Review

July 19, 2022
The purpose of this meeting is to comprehensively review our admission statistics, outcomes, and complications that we regularly track during our monthly QI meetings.

University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) is dedicated to providing safe, high-quality care for its patients. The UCM Burn Quality and Safety Committee is charged with overseeing patient safety and quality initiatives across the organization. Our goal is to provide a forum for the interprofessional care team to assess the quality, appropriateness, and efficacy of treatment services. We strive to continuously improve treatment services within the organization, thereby reducing morbidity and mortality and improving patient care. The Burn Quality and Safety Committee extends the work of the UCM Quality Committee. The UCM Burn Quality and Safety Committee provides a collaborative forum for physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and clinical administrative leaders to review, discuss, and make recommendations for optimization of inpatient quality and safety.

The goal of this activity is to review the annual statistics of the UCMC Burn Service, present and analyze QI and patient outcomes data collected over fiscal year 2022, and facilitate open discussion from the entire extended burn multidisciplinary team on quality improvement plans for the coming year.
