Target Audience
This activity is designed for gastroenterology clinicians, primary care clinicians, and advanced practice nurses working in general practice and GI settings.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe key considerations for pre-conception counseling and management in patients with IBD, including the role of maternal–fetal medicine.
- Summarize current consensus guidelines for the management of pregnancy in patients with IBD.
- Explain the components of an effective multidisciplinary care model for patients with IBD during pre-conception and pregnancy.
- Identify appropriate referral pathways and indications for consultation within the PPIBD clinic.
- Differentiate the safety profiles of commonly used IBD medications during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
