Navigating the Knee: Non-surgical Management of Knee OA and Indications for Knee Arthroscopy

NorthShore Orthopaedic Institute physicians will provide expertise on the treatment of common injuries and conditions in a variety of patient populations. Board-certified sports medicine physicians will provide updates on the appropriate care of musculoskeletal injuries and chronic conditions of the knee. Presentations will focus on appropriate interventions, referral to the proper specialist, and the most cutting-edge treatment techniques.

Target Audience

This program is geared towards physicians and other allied healthcare professionals in the internal and family medicine specialties.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize specific signs and symptoms of common athletic knee injuries;
  • Use appropriate special tests and proper diagnostic imaging to accurately diagnose knee injury/arthritis;
  • Distinguish between degenerative knee pain and acute knee pain in a variety of patient populations;
  • Analyze imaging and exam findings to determine appropriate referral or plan of care for patients with knee pain;
  • Consider common indications for knee arthroscopy when determining plan of care.
