34th Annual MacLean Center Conference

November 11, 2022 to November 12, 2022
This activity's goal is to improve patient care and outcomes by educating physicians and other healthcare professionals about clinical medical ethics through lectures, panel discussions, and collaboration. This year’s conference will also provide a heightened framework to view ethical issues in medicine presented by the ongoing COVID‐19 pandemic. Participants will learn new strategies to tackle challenging ethical dilemmas in their practice, allowing them to provide improved patient care.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals interested in clinical medical ethics.

Learning Objectives

After this educational activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss how clinical medical ethics applies broadly to the American healthcare system and specifically to their fields or specialties;
  • Identify the ethical situations or conflicts in routine clinical encounters;
  • Explain how to apply the tenants of clinical medical ethics to scenarios they encounter in their fields or specialties;
  • Describe how current literature and directives in clinical medical ethics will help them to make improved ethics decisions in their practice;
  • Discuss the various perspectives including legal, medical, and religious that must be taken into account to provide holistic patient care;
  • Discuss the clinical ethical issues the COVID‐19 pandemic presents to clinical care.
