Target Audience

This activity is designed for interdisciplinary healthcare providers, including nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, psychologists, and social workers dedicated to managing pain during serious illness.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe pain assessment methods and goals for patients at the end of life;
  • Discuss principles and skills in pharmacologic pain management for patients at the end of life;
  • Determine physiatric and integrative approaches to pain for patients in distress.
