
Medical Education Day Keynote Address: Artificial Intelligence and the New Digital Landscape: What are the Implications for Health Professions Educators?

This activity will identify opportunities to enhance health training processes by leveraging new data and technology methods at the intersection of clinical care and education. Through a combination of didactic presentations and interactive group activities, participants will gain an overview of digitalization trends in healthcare and education with a focus on their convergence. Additionally, the session will explore practical applications of generative AI through a “day in the life” scenario for clinician educators. By fostering a clear understanding of these tools and trends, the activity will empower participants to adapt their instructional planning and embrace innovative possibilities in their professional practice.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for GME leadership and faculty, trainees, program coordinators, institutional leadership, hospital faculty and staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recall real-world examples of AI in health professions education;
- Identify opportunities and challenges associated with the adoption of AI in medical education;
- Discuss how to navigate cultural and organizational barriers to AI adoption;
- Describe the secular shifts in the digitalization of learning and healthcare processes.
