Improvement and Implementation Curriculum: Improvement 101

This activity introduces the core methods of quality improvement, teaching participants how to set strong aims, test changes using the Model for Improvement and PDSA cycles, and lead effective change with Kotter’s 8 Steps. It provides a practical foundation for launching, refining, and sustaining improvements that strengthen patient outcomes and system performance.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for clinicians and multidisciplinary project teams seeking to build the skills necessary to lead quality improvement and implementation efforts across UChicago Medicine.

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key Quality Improvement models used in healthcare.
  • Describe the steps of the IHI Model for Improvement.
  • Explain how Kotter’s 8 Steps support effective change in healthcare settings.
