Fourth Annual NorthShore and University of Chicago Hospice and Palliative Care Symposium

The overall goal of this symposium is to educate the attendee on how to provide high quality care for patients in the late stages of dementia, as well as their families. We will focus on end of life care, working together with palliative care experts on how to improve the quality of care in nursing homes across the Chicagoland area.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for physicians and other allied healthcare professionals in the geriatrics, palliative care, internal medicine, and neurology specialties including social workers and nursing home directors, administrators.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the strengths of people with mild, moderate and advanced dementia
  • Discuss the evidence that supports a comfort model of care for people with dementia
  • Describe the conceptual shift that supports embedding comfort in your organization
  • Identify at least two methods for embedding comfort in your organization
