Join us for an innovative and comprehensive program to empower seasoned professionals to overcome the unique challenges of caring for head and neck cancer patients. It will take you on a transformative journey that spotlights a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to rehabilitating these special patients.
 
This course addresses the challenges experienced practitioners face in caring for head and neck cancer patients. It highlights an interdisciplinary approach to their rehabilitation. The course covers cutting-edge conservation, surgical, and nonsurgical treatments, along with corresponding functional outcomes and evidence-based interventions, providing a comprehensive overview of optimal patient care.
 
Course Objectives:  
  1. Describe 3 considerations when building a multi-disciplinary team to treat head and neck cancer. 
  2. Describe the treatment considerations and protocols involved in oncological rehabilitation including lymphedema, myofascial release, respiratory training, and dysphagia.
  3. Identify emerging diagnostic and treatment options that involve personalized medicine including genetic testing and immunotherapies. 

In-depth sessions will include topics about:
  • Optimizing Treatment Approaches for Functional Recovery
  • Therapeutic Strategies in Head and Neck Cancer Management
  • Swallowing Protocols and Documentation for Head and Neck Cancer Patients
  • Holistic Approaches to Patient Care
  • Advancing Patient-Centered Care
  • Innovations in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
The Advanced Course tuition of $475 (before August 1, $525 beginning August 1) includes breaks and lunches during course hours.

Advanced Clinical and Surgical Approaches to Management of Total Laryngectomy
September 19, 2024 | 2:00 pm-5:30 pm CT
 

This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of patient-centric factors that influence care planning for individuals who have undergone a total laryngectomy. It will highlight the critical considerations from various institutions and emphasize the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in driving treatment decisions.

Course Objectives:  
  1. Describe 3 patient factors that can impact patient outcomes 
  2. Describe the care pathway and guidelines for TL navigation  
  3. Identify 3 aspects critical to determining patient candidacy for puncture and how to help a patient make an objective decision. 

Space is limited! Application has been made to ASHA to offer CEUs for the Pre-course Workshop. Registration for the optional Pre-course Workshop is an additional $99. You must be registered to attend the full course to be eligible for the Pre-course Workshop.
