Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals committed to the treatment and care of patients living with HIV, STIs, viral hepatitis, COVID-19, mpox, and other HIV-related conditions and comorbidities.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • State current trends in HIV epidemiology in the United States and the significance of status-neutral strategy;
  • Identify fundamental elements of ambulatory HIV care via virtual, including respectful engagement, trauma-informed care, limited physical diagnosis, laboratory management and clinical monitoring, and patient education;
  • List the classes and targets of commonly used antiretroviral drugs, their side effects, and their indications for use;
  • Define the epidemiology and management of hepatitis B and C in people with HIV;
  • Illustrate strategies for HIV management during pregnancy and breastfeeding to prevent person-to-child transmission;
  • Explain the current epidemiology of the most common STIs in the United States and novel STI prevention and treatment strategies;
  • Evaluate effective management of common HIV co-morbidities, including cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, depression, and HIV-associated neurological disease.
