Keeping Up with the Evolving Treatment Landscape for Advanced/Metastatic Gastric/GEJ Cancer: Modeling Center of Excellence Practices

Survival rates for patients with advanced/metastatic gastric/gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancers remain poor with recurrence rates as high as 60%. Many patients with recurrence fail to receive more than one line of therapy despite evidence that eligible patients who receive second-line therapy have improved survival. While progress has been made in treating advanced/metastatic disease using targeted immunotherapies, testing of molecular biomarkers such as PD-L1, MSI, and HER2 are essential to guide personalized treatment approaches. Novel targets and therapies are also anticipated for these patients. To support clinical teams with biomarker testing and optimal treatment selection practices, this series of complimentary, 1-hour programs, conveniently offered at the point-of-care, synergistically interweaves evidence-based knowledge with operational frameworks to support practices of all sizes with enhancing patient care.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, advanced practice clinicians, oncology nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary/multispecialty team who treat patients with gastric/GEJ cancer.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Develop models for early and effective biomarker testing;
  • Assess the most recent evidence with selecting and sequencing treatments;
  • Create appropriate gastric/GEJ cancer treatment plans that implement the latest data and recommendations;
  • Incorporate multidisciplinary strategies to manage potential gastric/GEJ cancer treatment-related adverse events.
