Faculty Advancing Medical Education (FAME): Mentoring in Scholarship

Faculty Advancing in Medical Education (FAME) is a faculty development program sponsored by the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators and the MERITS Program (Medical Education Research, Innovation, Teaching, and Scholarship). FAME supports faculty educators by providing resources and training in key conceptual and practical skills in teaching and assessment.
 
This presentation will discuss the best practices for mentoring others in the development of scholarly work.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for faculty members at the University of Chicago and NorthShore University HealthSystem interested in medical education skills.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify roles and expectations of learners and mentors;
  • Identify characteristics of projects that are well-suited for trainee participation;
  • Discuss local and national data on mentorship of medical student scholarly work.
