Faculty Advancing in Medical Education (FAME): Working With the Modern Learner 2.0: Learn Effective Strategies for Direct Observation in a Clinical Education
Chicago, IL US
June 12, 2025
Faculty Advancing in Medical Education (FAME) is a faculty development program sponsored by the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators and the MERITS Program (Medical Education Research, Innovation, Teaching, and Scholarship). FAME supports faculty educators by providing resources and training in conceptual and practical skills for teaching and assessment.
Today’s medical learners bring diverse backgrounds, expectations, and learning styles that often differ significantly from previous generations of trainees. This session will explore the evolving demographics of medical students and residents, highlight key differences in how modern learners prefer to engage and communicate, and provide practical strategies for fostering a supportive and psychologically safe learning environment. Educators will leave with concrete tools to enhance teaching effectiveness and better connect with today’s learners.
