Faculty Advancing in Medical Education (FAME) is a faculty development program sponsored by the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators and the MERITS Program (Medical Education Research, Innovation, Teaching, and Scholarship). FAME supports faculty educators by providing resources and training in conceptual and practical skills for teaching and assessment.

The Objective Structured Teaching Encounters (OSTEs) are tailored for clinical educators. This unique program provides an opportunity to refine teaching skills alongside standardized learners. Engage in hands-on practice sessions to refresh your understanding of essential teaching skills and participate in formative experiences. Benefit from immediate feedback from both learners and facilitators, fostering growth and development in a supportive environment.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for residency, fellowship, course, and clerkship directors in the Pritzker School of Medicine and faculty who teach in courses and clerkships.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply a learner-driven framework to a formal feedback session with learners.
  • Analyze a clinical teaching encounter using a five-step teaching model for teaching with limited time.
  • Evaluate teaching performance based on immediate feedback in a simulated encounter.
