You work at a large academic medical center, which means you inherently are expected to conduct direct observations of students and trainees . . . but have you ever been trained on how to conduct a direct observation? Join us for best practices and to hear what learners want and need when faculty members watch them interact with patients.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for course and clerkship directors in the Pritzker School of Medicine and faculty who teach in courses and clerkships.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the utility of direct observation in effective assessment;
  • Identify opportunities for direct observation in your clinical practice;
