Target Audience

This activity has been designed for endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, general surgeons, head and neck surgeons, and other healthcare professionals interested in the treatment and management of complex endocrinologic diseases.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the most recent changes to the American Thyroid Association guidelines for the surgical management of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer;
  • Explain the controversy surrounding the extent of lymph node dissection for thyroid cancer patients;
  • Differentiate between when to refer a primary hyperparathyroidism patient for surgery and when to offer other treatments;
  • Describe the differences in thyroid surgery techniques.
