ECHO-Chicago: COVID-19 in Pediatric Populations

The 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic is an ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2). As providers of care to children, we want to do whatever we can to insure their health and well-being. During the COVID-19 epidemic, our skills, operations, and knowledge are being put to the test. At University of Chicago Medicine, we want to help you through our knowledge sharing systems. To that end, we are hosting an ECHO-Chicago special session, COVID-19 for Pediatric Populations led by ECHO-Chicago director and pediatric infectious disease specialist, Dr. Daniel Johnson. 

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the treatment of COVID-19 in pediatric populations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participatants will be able to:

  • Discuss current statistics surrounding COVID-19, flu mortality, and the degree of severity this virus affects children;
  • Describe the factors necessary for SARS-COV2 transmission;
  • Discuss COVID-19 symptoms for pediatric populations and treatment options available;
  • Relate guidelines for discontinuation of transmission-based precautions for patients with COVID-19.
