Empowering Clinicians to Deliver Exceptional Adolescent Care
Join a dynamic, case-based training series designed for community-based primary care clinicians across Illinois. Led by University of Chicago experts, this interactive program will deepen your skills, expand your toolkit, and help you navigate the most pressing challenges in adolescent healthcare.
Through engaging virtual rounds on Zoom, you’ll gain practical, evidence-based strategies to enhance the well-being of adolescent patients, improving outcomes and strengthening the quality of care in your community.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for community-based primary care providers and behavioral health clinicians interested in providing care to patients who are at risk for suicide.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the unique health needs of adolescents to inform risk assessment in clinical care.
- Apply confidentiality, consent, and shared decision-making principles to promote trust and autonomy in adolescent care.
- Design youth-friendly clinical environments that enhance accessibility, inclusivity, and engagement for adolescents.
- Integrate evidence-based sexual and reproductive healthcare into adolescent visits, including STI management, contraception, and vaccination.
- Assess common adolescent mental and behavioral health concerns, including mood disorders, substance use, and suicidality.
- Address nutrition-related and menstrual health conditions in adolescents through evidence-based counseling and management.
- Facilitate coordinated transition of care for adolescents with chronic or complex conditions into adult health systems.
