Congress for Pain Care Advancement Registry-Based Pain Care: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Path Forward

Wilmette, IL US
May 28, 2026
Patient registries have emerged as powerful tools to improve outcomes in pain medicine by enhancing our understanding of disease progression, evaluating therapeutic effectiveness, and informing both quality improvement and value-based care initiatives. Yet, despite their promise and technological advances, including EHR integration, machine learning, and automated analytics, the widespread and consistent application of registries in pain medicine remains limited.

This educational conference addresses critical professional practice gaps in knowledge, competence, and performance around the creation, integration, and utilization of registry-based pain care. Pain medicine clinicians recognize the potential of registries, but face significant technical, operational, and financial barriers to implementation and clinical workflow integration. Few healthcare systems currently exploit registries to their full potential for pain medicine, and key challenges have stymied broader adoption at scale.

Through a dynamic agenda of didactic presentations and interactive roundtables, this conference convenes interdisciplinary experts and stakeholders to explore opportunities in registry-driven patient care. Faculty will present practical insights and evidence-based strategies designed to overcome real-world barriers and leverage registries for improving outcomes, driving research, supporting equitable care, and facilitating point of care decision-making.

A core activity will be collaborative development of guiding principles for registry-based pain care: articulating value, detailing key challenges, and providing implementable solutions. Input from attendees in roundtable sessions will directly inform a consensus-driven white paper, ultimately defining a framework for advancing registry-based care in pain medicine.
