Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recall the current best practices to treat peripartum cardiomyopathy during the peripartum period;
- Recognize symptoms and findings of peripartum cardiomyopathy;
- Identify management strategy for following pregnancies with heart failure closely and planning for all stages, including labor and delivery and postpartum;
- State how to assess the risk of subsequent pregnancy in women with a history of peripartum cardiomyopathy;
- Discuss the role of preconception counseling for women with Marfan’s syndrome and other aortopathies contemplating pregnancy;
- Describe the best practices for surveillance and management of pregnancies with aortopathies through the entire peripartum period.
