Burn Center Annual QI Review 23-24
July 23, 2024
The goal is to review the annual statistics of the UCMC Burn Service, present and analyze QI and patient outcomes data collected over the fiscal year 2024, and facilitate open discussion from the entire extended burn multidisciplinary team on quality improvement plans for the coming year.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, physical and occupational therapists, registered dieticians, and clinical pharmacists dedicated to improving patient care in the UCM Burn Unit.
Learning Objectives
After this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify factors found in the data review that led to specific medical complications;
- List changes to medical or surgical management or judgment to improve the quality of care;
- Recognize modifications to clinical practice identified in the data review that can improve patient outcomes;
- Describe how to prevent repeating problems that can lead to medical complications;
- Discuss medical complication patterns identified in the data review;
- Evaluate effective solutions available to decrease the incidence of complications.

All participants will be provided with a certificate of attendance. This course is approved for 1.5 continuing education hours for licensed therapists (PT, PTA, OT, or COTA) in Illinois. The University of Chicago Medical Center has not applied to any other state for therapist CE credit. Participants will need to do this individually through their jurisdiction outside of Illinois.
