The purpose the education summit is to better inform the field on standards in appropriate and effective patient care for individuals with asthma that will therefore increase patient adherence to asthma treatment and reduce the unnecessary visits to the emergency room.
Target Audience
This activity has been designed for physicians and other health professionals interested in the identification and treatment of asthma.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participatants will be able to:
- Examine techniques to educate families on pollutants and strategies to reduce exposure to these pollutants;
- Evaluate commonly used asthma control assessment tools in terms of content, psychometric properties, methods of administration, limitations, and ability to reflect the overall status of asthma control to aid clinicians in selecting the most appropriate tool for their needs;
- Assess patients’ health improvements on asthma management;
- Describe the role and benefit of community health workers in improving asthma management in patients.
