FSR Clinical Education and Engagement Series: Advanced Cardiac Sarcoidosis
March 25, 2026
The Clinician Education and Engagement Series on Advanced Cardiac Sarcoidosis is a comprehensive long-form program developed to equip clinicians with practical insights and multidisciplinary strategies for managing complex cardiac sarcoidosis. Through a dynamic, case-based format, this session will explore critical aspects of cardiac involvement in sarcoidosis, emphasizing timely recognition, effective diagnostic evaluation, and individualized management approaches. Participants will examine the most impactful clinical decision points through presentations delivered by expert sarcoidosis cardiologists on the following topics:
- Advanced Cardiac Imaging: optimal use of cardiac MRI, PET, and other imaging modalities to confirm suspected cardiac sarcoidosis and to inform treatment strategies
- Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Treatment Options for Advanced Arrhythmic Manifestations: management of arrhythmic manifestations, device therapies, and interventional options for advanced cardiac sarcoidosis
- Heart Failure & Heart Transplant: treatment optimization, referral thresholds for advanced therapies (LVAD, transplant, etc.), and best practices for multidisciplinary coordination.
The session will also incorporate the pulmonary perspective through a discussion-based session between a cardiologist and pulmonologist regarding timing for cardiac screening, identifying appropriate thresholds for referral, and recognizing clinical indicators for advanced cardiac evaluation. The program concludes with a moderated panel that incorporates discussion of a patient case that integrates the session topics to increase understanding of evidence-based approaches to managing advanced cardiac sarcoidosis.
Target Audience
The intended audience includes general practitioners, cardiologists, pulmonologists, rheumatologists, and all specialties working with sarcoidosis.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the program, clinicians should be able to:
- Recognize clinical indicators and appropriate timing for cardiac screening and referral in sarcoidosis patients and integrate multidisciplinary perspectives to improve patient outcomes;
- Apply best practices in the selection and interpretation of imaging modalities for diagnosing and assessing disease activity in cardiac sarcoidosis;
- Evaluate current cardiac electrophysiology approaches for managing arrhythmias and guiding device therapy in advanced cases;
- Discuss strategies for optimizing heart failure management and determining the need for advanced therapies such as LVAD or transplantation.
