Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of endometriosis and adenomyosis, with attention to impact on overall physical and emotional health
  2. Analyze the barriers to timely diagnosis of endometriosis, including delayed recognition, chronic overlapping pain conditions, and other comorbidities
  3. Apply principles of trauma-informed, empathetic care by obtaining a through medical, surgical and pain history to inform individualized treatment planning
  4. Identify common patient-reported symptoms related to endometriosis-associated pain, and formulate nursing responses to common patient concerns during phone triage or follow-up care
  5. Discuss the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in managing chronic pelvic pain, including pain anesthesia, GI, psychiatry/psychology, and pelvic floor physical therapy
  6. Evaluate a case-based model of endometriosis care, including the role of supportive care, physical therapy, hormonal therapy, and surgical management.
