4th Annual Innovations in Congenital Heart Disease Symposium

This activity will enhance the knowledge and competence of healthcare professionals managing complex congenital heart disease cases requiring transplantation. It will highlight the unique operational features of a multidisciplinary transplant team and provide updates on the latest advancements in pediatric and congenital heart transplantation, aiming to improve patient outcomes.
 
Through case-based discussions, participants will explore the application of advanced technologies, including fetal MRI, 3D modeling, and virtual reality, in surgical planning and patient care. Expert-led sessions will highlight evidence-based strategies and innovative approaches that support collaborative, multidisciplinary decision-making, equipping participants with practical tools to improve care for this high-risk patient population.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and cardiology fellows who care for patients with cardiovascular disease.

Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply risk stratification methods and candidacy evaluation criteria to optimize referral and selection for congenital heart transplantation.
  • Integrate evidence-based perioperative and immunologic management strategies tailored to the congenital transplant population.
  • Analyze the essential components and unique features of a multidisciplinary team approach for successful outcomes in complex CHD heart transplantation.
  • Evaluate the clinical application of advanced diagnostic and planning tools, including fetal cardiac MRI, 3D modeling, and virtual reality, in the management of CHD.
  • Appraise recent advancements and unique considerations in pediatric and congenital heart transplantation.
