Affirming Gender Diversity: From Values to Practices

This session will provide an introduction to gender-affirming care and considerations for how an integrated student wellness center on a university campus can support gender-expansive students.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical assistants, phlebotomists, nurses, physicians, wellness coaches, and support and administrative staff who provide health and wellness information and services to students on a university campus.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Articulate one way to provide an affirming and inclusive environment within an integrated student wellness center on a university campus;
- Identify gender identity and gender-affirming care terminology;
- Conceptualize barriers and challenges that prevent transgender and gender-expansive students from seeking health and wellness services, help, and treatment.
