University of Chicago Dementia Awareness, Evaluation, and Care for the Healthcare Professional
More than 6.5 million Americans over 65 live with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD). This estimate will steadily increase over the next 30 years as the number of older adults increases. Experts agree that many healthcare professionals need more training to provide this unique population with the highest level of care.
This interactive module will increase healthcare professionals’ skills to provide dementia evaluation, care, and resource support for patients living with dementia.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals at the University of Chicago caring for individuals over 26 years old.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between dementia and Alzheimer's disease;
- Recognize the stages of Alzheimer's disease;
- Discuss how to apply the steps included in a dementia assessment;
- Identify how an interprofessional team can support a dementia care plan.

It is designed to be completed within the time designated. To successfully earn credit, participants must complete the activity online during the valid credit period. To receive a certificate, the participant must watch the complete video presentation and complete all interactive exercises. The activity can be accessed by entering the access code, clicking "Complete Activity," and watching the video presentation. Upon successful completion, the participant can complete a brief evaluation and receive a certificate.
Physicians are eligible to receive continuing education credit applicable to their profession. All other participants will receive a certificate indicating participation in this AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™-approved activity.
