At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize both overt and subtle issues related to compliance, HIPAA privacy and security, and patient safety;
- Explain why the observed “horrors” constitute violations;
- Discuss the negative impact of conflicts of interest, fraud, waste, and abuse issues; breaches in HIPAA privacy and security; and risks to patient safety;
- Describe appropriate corrective actions in response to issues of compliance, HIPAA privacy and security, and patient safety.
