Learning Objectives
- Describe the evolving gene mutational spectrum of malignant myeloid disease and the treatment paradigms of acute myeloid leukemia in the young fit and elderly or unfit populations;
- List the advances in biologic knowledge and treatments, including non-chemotherapy based treatments for acute lymphoblastic leukemia from young adults to the elderly;
- Review the current state of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in the curative treatment of acute leukemias;
- Discuss the shift in knowledge and treatment decision making in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and the management of chronic myeloid leukemia, including selecting for treatment free remission;
- Explain the current knowledge on hematologic complications of COVID-19 and the data and contributors to outcomes disparities in Americans with hematologic malignancies.
