1. Understand that persistent podocyte injury and loss may result from a number of causes and lead to the progression of glomerular disease.
2. Recognize KIBRA as an upstream regulator of the Hippo signaling pathway is a novel mediator of podocyte injury via antagonism of Hippo pathway effector YAP, and glomerular WWC1 expression correlates with glomerular disease progression.
3. Delineate potential druggable targets to reverse and prevent KIBRA-mediated podocyte injury.
