At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the importance of sleep in healthy aging and its impact on overall health and quality of life in older adults.
- Identify common sleep disorders affecting older adults, including insomnia and sleep apnea, and discuss their prevalence.
- Explain factors predisposing older adults to sleep disorders, such as age-related changes and comorbidities.
- Recognize clinical consequences of untreated sleep disorders, including increased risks of falls, frailty, and cognitive decline.
- Outline approaches to diagnosis of sleep disorders in older adults, including the use of screening tools and sleep studies.
