Objectives:

1. To examine the current state of antimicrobial resistance among common medically important gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
2. To describe the general mechanisms through which bacteria gain antimicrobial resistance.
3. To provide therapeutic and preventative strategies for drug resistant infections.
