Objectives:

   1. Understand the roles of macrophages in atherosclerosis.

   2. Macrophage apoptosis contributes to plaque necrosis and formation of unstable plaques.

   3. Efferocytosis (phagocytosis of apoptotic cells) reduces lesion necrosis and promotes features of plaque stabilization.
