OBJECTIVES

The purpose of the first lecture is to:

1. Gain insight into the growing number of pacemaker/ICD extractions.

 2. Appreciate how the technique of intracardiac echocardiography may help prevent complications.

The purpose of the second lecture is to:

1. Understand basic LA function.

2. Understand the possible role of LA strain for detection of diastolic dysfunction.
