Recognize and classify the stages of valvular heart disease

1. Determine the appropriate imaging modalities for diagnosis and follow-up of patients with mitral regurgitation
2. Outline guideline based medical therapy for patient’s with mitral regurgitation
3. Distinguish between etiologies of degenerative and functional mitral valve regurgitation
4. Differentiate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to patients with functional versus degenerative mitral regurgitation
